Problems With Low Slope
Avoid Low Slope Roofs
Who would construct a building that leaks? Nobody would say they do. Yet, within the low-slope rigid steel buildings industry it is common knowledge the 90 cents of every dollar spent for warranty callbacks is for roof leaks.
Here’s the problem: low slope roofs. Low slope roofs are those nearly flat roofs that are pitched just enough that the rain won’t pool up on. In cold climates ice dams may form at roof edges. On a low slope roof this can cause water from melting snow to back up unto the roof, eventually penetrating the building.
According to the book Manual of Low-Slope Roof Systems , “the number of lawsuits involving low-slope roof systems exceeds the total number of lawsuits filed over all other building systems combined.”
Steep roofs get rain and snow off the building faster. SteelLite’s
steel buildings are standard 4:12 pitch for buildings up to 60 feet wide and
3:12 for wider buildings.
For a Leak-Free roof make sure you next building is manufactured by SteelLite Metal Building Co.
SteelLite's 4:12 Slope
SteelLite buildings generally have 4:12 slopes. Steeper roofs get rain and snow off your roof much quicker than low roof slopes and promote constant air flow to prevent condensation.
